Meatbox Subsynth
Sub-octave synthesizer for bass that adds massive low-end with tracking controls.
The DOD Meatbox is a sub-octave synthesizer originally designed for bass guitar but adopted by adventurous guitarists seeking earth-shaking low end. It generates frequencies an octave below your input signal, adding subsonic weight that can shake the room.
The reissued Meatbox features Sub and Low controls. Sub adjusts the level of the synthesized subharmonic content, while Low controls the amount of low-frequency boost applied to your original signal. The combination can add subtle thickness or speaker-threatening bass.
The pedal includes true bypass and a modern 9V DC jack. Bass players use it for doom metal, dub, and hip-hop production where massive low end is essential. Guitarists pair it with octave-down effects for synth-like bass tones from standard guitar.
