Stormy Bass Drive
Bass overdrive with internal 16V boost. Keeps the low end fat even at high gain.
E.W.S. (Engineering Work Store) built a devoted bass following with their Tri-Logic preamps and Bass Mid Control before releasing the Stormy Bass Drive, their first dedicated bass overdrive.
The secret is the internal DC-DC converter that boosts 9V input to 16V, delivering fat, solid lows and firm highs even at high gain settings. The circuit combines MOSFET and low-noise op-amp stages for tube-like, touch-sensitive response. Three EQ modes via toggle: Mid Boost (+6dB at 750Hz), Normal, and Mid Cut (-6dB at 400Hz).
Covers clean boost to fat crunch to deep high-gain, and critically, the low end stays intact throughout. Ultra-compact at 38.5mm x 92.5mm, runs on 9V battery or adapter.
