ZEQD-Pre
EF86 pentode tube preamp co-designed with Dr. Z—passive 3-band EQ, cab sim, and balanced XLR out.
A collaboration between EarthQuaker Devices and Dr. Z Amplification, the ZEQD-Pre puts a real EF86 pentode tube on your pedalboard. The circuit runs the tube at 44V RMS with a gain factor of 185, giving you genuine tube saturation and dynamics without needing a full amp rig.
Three-band passive EQ covers bass (20–400 Hz), mids (400 Hz–2 kHz), and treble (2–20 kHz). The Boost footswitch defeats the tone stack entirely for a full-range volume lift controlled by its own dedicated knob. Headphone out includes built-in analog cabinet simulation, and the balanced XLR direct output with ground lift makes it ready for studio or stage.
Runs on 9V DC at 500mA through a transformer-isolated supply. True bypass switching keeps your signal clean when disengaged.
