The Lamplighter Optical Compressor provides compression that doesn't step on your tone like other compressors do. The design goal was transparent compression with a low noise floor while allowing the effect to be present.
Compression and Comp Mix controls allow a multitude of sweet spots with different settings. Add the Release toggle into the mix, and you suddenly have flexibility rivaling more complex compressors. The Treble control can push the tonal range into shimmery, squashed-out heaven.
The glossy black finish with gold graphics complements the golden LED color. The compression is quite wide, adding punch to the tone even at lower settings. Some users note a boost in mid frequencies that makes it particularly suitable for guitar.
