No Masters
Germanium fuzz based on the Selmer Buzz Tone with variable voltage control.
Land Devices is a mysterious boutique pedal operation run out of Oakland, CA, while Farm Pedals operates out of Maine. The No Masters represents a collaboration between these two boutique builders, combining their expertise into a single limited-edition fuzz pedal.
The No Masters is based on the Selmer Buzz Tone from the 1960s, the same circuit allegedly used by Syd Barrett on early Pink Floyd recordings. The three germanium transistor design has been refined while maintaining the vintage character that made the original legendary. Limited to just 100 units, 50 of which were exclusive to Reverb, this is among the rarest Land Devices releases.
Two knobs control the sound: Volume adjusts output with unity around 9 o'clock, while Voltage tweaks the circuit's operating voltage from 3.5V (classic spongy response) through 6V to 9V (sharper attack). A two-way depth switch toggles between dirty germanium overdrive and thick aggressive fuzz. Some noise at high settings is expected from this intentionally vintage-voiced design.
