FrantaBit
Bit crusher and sample rate reducer. Degrade and Obliterate modes for glitchy lo-fi destruction.
Iron Ether makes unique effects and synth modules in Portland, Oregon. The FrantaBit delivers digital destruction through bit crushing and sample rate reduction.
Sample rate sweeps from 32kHz down to under 100Hz, creating aliasing effects where frequencies fold back and create new harmonics. Two modes: Degrade for true digital sample rate reduction, and Obliterate for analog-style aliasing with harsh square wave ring modulation textures.
Expression input can control bit depth, sample rate, both, or wet/dry mix, with an attenuator knob to dial in sweep range. Version 2 improved audio fidelity and expression response.
Relay-based true bypass, 85mA at 9V. Favored by bassists like Janek Gwizdala for adding gritty textures. Glitchy video game synth sounds and buzzsaw harmonics on demand.
