Dyna-ssoR
Ross/DynaComp mashup using rare NOS CA3080 chips for squashy funk compression or extreme sustain extension.
Jam Pedals named the Dyna-ssoR as a portmanteau of its inspirations: the Ross Compressor and MXR DynaComp. Both legendary compressors shared the CA3080 operational transconductance amplifier at their heart, and Jam sources the increasingly rare NOS chips for authentic vintage character.
The circuit captures the fast attack and squeeze of the DynaComp with the smoothness and warmth of the Ross. Whether you want tight funk rhythms or soaring sustained leads, the Dyna-ssoR delivers with powerful volume compensation and natural dynamics.
Level sets output volume, Sustain controls compression amount. The NOS CA3080 chip provides a juicy swell anywhere on the Sustain dial. At only 6mA current draw, it plays nice with battery power. Note: vintage-style compressors work best with passive pickups—hot active electronics may clip the input stage.
