Octaurus NOS
Limited-run octave fuzz featuring rare 1960s NOS silicon transistors in turret-board point-to-point construction.
Jam Pedals built the Octaurus NOS as a limited edition—around 200 units—using a batch of early 1960s NOS silicon transistors (Transitron or General Instrument, similar to 2N335/336). The turret-board point-to-point construction is painstaking but delivers exceptional tonal character.
Two toggle switches unlock the tonal range: one shifts between a scooped, metallic snarl and a full-bodied, harmonically rich roar; the other toggles between symmetrical clipping (tight, precise) and asymmetrical clipping (loose, dynamic). The octave effect remains audible across all pickup positions—not always a given with this circuit type.
Volume, Tone, and Gain provide straightforward control. Roll back your guitar's volume for ring-mod effects without losing note definition. The vintage transistors add a certain indefinable quality that modern components can't quite replicate—worth hunting down if you can find one.
