Onset

Land Devices is a mysterious boutique pedal operation run out of Oakland, CA. The Onset is a collaboration with Vongon, combining Land's analog expertise with Vongon's digital control systems.

The Onset creates automatic volume swell effects with rise times adjustable from 100 milliseconds to 2 seconds. The signal path uses a high-fidelity analog VCA (voltage controlled amplifier) controlled by a digitally-generated exponential envelope, providing natural-sounding swells that eliminate the need for manual volume pedal technique.

Two sliders control sensitivity and fade length: sensitivity adjusts how the detection circuit responds to your playing dynamics, while fade sets the swell duration. Dual LEDs indicate swell status, fading smoothly from purple to yellow as the volume rises. True bypass via relay switching ensures pristine tone when disengaged, while the robust chassis and soft-touch footswitch are built for touring.
