Flikrrr
Organic tremolo inspired by natural 1/f fluctuations with no rate control.
LastGasp Art Laboratories was founded by Hirofumi Uchino in Tokyo in 1992, with roots in the experimental noise scene. After relocating to Sydney, Australia in 2005, Hiro rebuilt the entire production line from scratch, creating wildly unconventional effects championed by noise and experimental artists worldwide.
The Flikrrr Flickering Tremolo takes an unconventional approach to modulation by eliminating the standard rate control entirely. Instead, the tremolo patterns are inspired by 1/f fluctuations found in nature - the soft flickering of flames, the irregular buzz of fluorescent lights, or the gentle swaying of leaves.
Three simple controls shape the effect: Level sets output volume, Depth adjusts modulation intensity, and Shape blends between sine and square waveforms. The result is a tremolo that feels organic and alive rather than mechanical, with subtle variations that keep the effect from becoming predictable or monotonous.
