Sooper Fuzz 46
Univox Super-Fuzz inspired circuit with C1815 transistors and switchable mid boost/scoop.
LastGasp Art Laboratories was founded by Hirofumi Uchino in Tokyo in 1992, with roots in the experimental noise scene. After relocating to Sydney, Australia in 2005, Hiro rebuilt the entire production line from scratch, creating wildly unconventional effects championed by noise and experimental artists worldwide.
The Sooper Fuzz 46 is an aggressive upper octave fuzz that builds on LastGasp's earlier Super 45, itself inspired by the 1960s Univox Super-Fuzz. The circuit uses C1815 transistors (high-current equivalents of BC547/BC549) paired with a JRC4558DD op-amp for exceptionally high output.
Four controls shape the sound: Level, Tone, and Gain provide standard fuzz adjustment, while a Mode switch toggles between Mid Boost and Mid Scoop voicings. The result ranges from spitting, searing lead tones to gnarly, splatty fuzz with fantastic blooming and percolating harmonic waves.
