Ruby Red Booster
BJF dual booster combining Little Red Trebler and Red Rooster. 40dB boost, 15dB treble boost at 4kHz.
The Ruby Red Booster combines two BJF designs: the Little Red Trebler and Red Rooster Booster, connected in that order with a master volume. The Treble control provides up to 15dB boost peaking at 4kHz with optimized bass slope. The Boost control delivers up to 40dB of gain.
Use it as treble booster, clean booster, overdrive, or any combination. At higher boost settings, the circuit produces musical distortion on its own. Internal switch toggles between true bypass and buffered modes. The buffer matches guitar pickup impedance for consistent tone through the signal chain.
Input impedance 500K, recommended output load 50K or higher. Current draw 6mA. Runs on 8-18V. Signal-to-noise ratio hits 110dB. Effect bandwidth spans 70Hz to 7kHz. Voltage gain maxes at 40dB.
Now discontinued. The dual-booster approach offers flexibility that single-purpose boosters cannot match. Works well for pushing amps into overdrive or cutting through for solos.
