Downward Spiral (Special Edition)
Delay with downward pitch-shifting repeats and a limiter that tames the chaos. Doom ambient tool.
The Downward Spiral is a modulated echo that pitch-shifts each repeat downward, stacking lower and lower octaves as regeneration increases. A unique limiter circuit in the feedback path prevents distortion and keeps the cascading pitch shifts under control—turn the Regen knob and the downward shift intensifies with each cycle.
Three controls: Level (echo signal volume, full CCW = dry only), Regen (regeneration intensity—higher settings produce deeper pitch descent per repeat, full CW runs away), and Time (20ms-800ms delay, far right creates endless lower-octave sustain). At conservative settings it approximates a dark room reverb with chorus-like movement. Cranked, it generates massive doom-ambient textures of ever-descending pitch.
True bypass. 9VDC (2.1mm center-negative adapter or 9V battery), <60mA. Input impedance ~500KΩ. Made in Portland, Oregon.
