Heaven's Gate
Gated reverberator. Lush reflections that vanish the instant you stop playing. The Peter Gabriel trick.
The Heaven's Gate is a gated reverberator inspired by the gated drum reverb technique first heard on Peter Gabriel's 1979 recordings. It generates reverb reflections that respond to your playing dynamics—when you stop or mute your strings, the reverb quickly and smoothly disappears as though it was never there.
Three controls: Wet/Dry (full range from 100% dry to 100% reverb), Trigger (gate sensitivity threshold—higher settings produce more abrupt cutoff), and Decay (reverb tail length, from short and snappy to long and lush). Mr. Black recommends placing it after all dynamic effects (overdrive, fuzz, compressor) and before delay/echo.
True bypass. 9VDC (2.1mm center-negative adapter or 9V battery), <60mA. Input impedance ~500KΩ. 2.65"W x 4.4"L x 1.9"H, 12oz. Handmade in Portland, Oregon.
