La Machine
Octave-up fuzz based on Tychobrahe Octavia. Variable octave blend for versatile tones.
The La Machine recreates the Tychobrahe Octavia circuit that Jimi Hendrix made famous. The octave-up fuzz creates singing, violin-like tones on high notes while delivering thick fuzz on lower passages.
Three controls: Fuzz sets saturation, Level adjusts output, Octave blends the upper harmonic. The variable octave control lets you dial in exactly how much of the ring-modulator-like effect you want.
The Octavia circuit uses full-wave rectification to generate the octave-up effect. Tracking works best on single notes in the upper register. Lower notes and chords produce more chaotic, harmonically rich textures.
True bypass switching. Hendrix used the Octavia on "Purple Haze," "Fire," and throughout his career. The La Machine makes that circuit available in MXR's reliable format without vintage unit hassles.
