Buffalo FX Evolution recreation—four-stage Plexi-inspired distortion with Stock/Boost switching.
The PastFX Revolution is a faithful recreation and expansion of the Buffalo FX Evolution, a four-stage overdrive and distortion originally inspired by the Pete Cornish G-2 distortion pedal. Voiced with a slightly dark disposition, it produces Plexi-tinged tones ranging from crunchy overdrive through biting distortion to searing lead runs.
Four controls shape the sound: Level sets output volume, Drive controls gain amount, Tone adjusts frequency balance, and Contour shapes upper midrange character. An external switch selects between Stock mode (faithful to the original Evolution circuit) and Boost mode (accentuating brighter tonal frequencies for a more modern sound via internal dip switch modification).
Capable of producing searing Plexi-like tones, roaring sustain, and saturated grit with shades of muffy wooliness at high gain settings. True bypass, dimmable LED, low noise floor across the gain range. 112 x 60 x 31mm enclosure drawing under 10mA at 9VDC center-negative. Input impedance: 1 Megohm. Handmade in Brisbane, Australia.
