Tacana
Feature-rich 16-waveform amplitude tremolo with tap tempo, external sync, momentary mode, and analog signal path delivering bright, sparkly modulation from subtle to intense.
The Tacana Tap Tremolo from Ukrainian builder Sentimental Bob Electronics is comprehensive tremolo solution offering extraordinary flexibility in compact format. First released in early 2018, pedal provides 16 distinct waveform types split across two banks: eight standard waves (Ramp Up, Ramp Down, Pulse, Triangle, Sine, Sweep, Lumps, Random Levels) and eight alternative waves (Ramp + Oct, Quad Ramp, Quad Pulse, Triangle Step, Sine + Oct, Sine + 3rd, Sine + 4th, Random Slopes). Alternative quad waveforms introduce subtle harmonic distortion and grit, expanding pedal's tonal palette beyond traditional tremolo territory.
Despite its digital waveform generation, Tacana maintains fully analog signal path that's galvanically isolated from LFO, preserving signal integrity and delivering pedal's characteristic bright, sparkly quality. Six knobs provide precise control over Volume, Depth, Speed, Waveform Type, Shape (duty cycle between upper and lower peaks), and Tap Divide (half note, quarter, dotted quarter, eighth, dotted eighth, and sixteenth subdivisions). Shape control is particularly powerful, allowing users to distort waveform character from subtle variations to dramatic transformations.
Pedal's advanced features include dedicated tap tempo footswitch, 3.5mm external sync jack with internal jumper for latching or 5V gate pulse synchronization, and clever momentary mode activated by double-clicking bypass footswitch. This hold mode creates choppy, rhythmic bursts perfect for in-the-moment musical expression. With Depth knob at zero, Tacana functions as excellent clean boost via its internal output trimpot. Top-mounted jacks, soft-touch switches, and relay true bypass complete thoughtful design.
