Albert
Enhanced OCD-inspired overdrive with MOSFET/Germanium clipping modes, HP/LP filtering, Fat switch, and independent +30dB boost section running internally at 18V.
The Albert represents Sentimental Bob Electronics' refined take on classic Fulltone OCD circuit, combining elements from multiple OCD versions (1.3, 1.4, 1.7, 2.0, and GE variants) into hybrid design. Built around OP275 op-amp from Analog Devices, pedal features internal voltage doubling circuit that powers operational amplifier at 18V despite 9V input, providing increased headroom and dynamic response similar to premium boutique overdrives.
Pedal offers exceptional tonal flexibility through its switchable clipping modes: MOSFET for standard transistor-based clipping, or Germanium mode which introduces Soviet germanium diodes for slightly less compression and brighter attack characteristics. HP/LP (High Peak/Low Peak) filter switch dramatically shifts Drive knob's frequency emphasis, ranging from smooth, natural breakup in LP mode to aggressive, Marshall-style crunch in HP mode. Fat/Standard EQ switch adds additional low-frequency content for thicker tones, while independent boost circuit provides up to +30dB of gain that can be stacked with drive section or used independently.
Japanese latching relays provide silent true bypass switching with click-muting output protection. Three-knob interface (Volume, Tone, Drive) plus switchable Boost control makes Albert equally effective as standalone overdrive or as part of stacked gain setup. Pedal excels at everything from light edge-of-breakup tones to full-on distortion, with particular strength in producing marshaloid crunch tones when pushed.
