BC239 Fuzz
BC239 transistor fuzz variant. Slightly different voicing from BC109 version.
The BC239 Fuzz is a late Ram's Head era Big Muff Pi variant using BC239 silicon transistors and plastic film capacitors (not ceramic discs). The plastic film caps produce a clear, cutting top end compared to the softer, grittier ceramic tone of triangle-knob era Muffs.
Sustain, Volume, and Tone controls plus a Scoop/Hump mini toggle switch — Scoop provides the standard mild mid scoop, Hump adds midrange boost for cutting through dense mixes. The BC239 transistors render less bass for a more biting and articulate Muff tone with aggressive sustain and meaty grind.
Created as a smaller enclosure adaptation of the larger Giant Meat Pie after that model sold out. Late 1970s Ram's Head Big Muff territory. Handmade in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. True bypass, LED, Boss-style power jack.
