The Team Awesome Fuzz Machine was originally designed for bass players and low-end enthusiasts who wanted thick, gnarly fuzz without sacrificing fundamental tone and articulation. The TAFM is full-range hybrid silicon/germanium fuzz circuit paired with clean blend—the thick fuzz is perfectly complemented by slightly gritty clean blend that retains all the low end needed and then some. This parallel processing approach allows bassists and guitarists to maintain core tone while adding layers of harmonically rich fuzz on top.
Comprehensive control set includes Input Gain (acts as pre-fuzz control with clean boost down, or affects both signals and inverts phase with clean boost up), Fuzz (alters fuzz amount and harmonic structure, cleaning up with guitar volume at low settings), and Shape (filter control that rolls off highs counterclockwise and brings back highs and mids clockwise). Independent Fuzz Volume and Clean Volume controls provide substantial boost available, while Mids toggle offers down position for slight midrange scoop or up for upper-midrange boost.
Clean Boost footswitch engages clean blend with phase inversion capabilities, while separate Gate footswitch provides aggressive note cleanup when desired. The TAFM's hybrid silicon/germanium design provides warmth and character while maintaining definition and punch. Clean blend helps preserve articulation as you crank fuzz and gain to extreme levels, keeping fundamental tone sitting underneath the wall of fuzz this pedal creates.
Running on standard 9V DC (center-negative, ~11mA), ranges from subtle fuzz enhancement to heavy rumbles to cutting mid-range gnarl, performing equally well on guitar and bass.
