Second-generation germanium fuzz with Soviet transistors. Predecessor to the Sputnik IIb.
The Sputnik II is the second generation of Spaceman's all-germanium fuzz circuit, building on the original Sputnik's foundation. Vintage Soviet germanium transistors deliver the warm, touch-sensitive response that made the original famous.
Range, Calibrate, and Filter controls shape tones from subtle overdrive to thick sustaining fuzz. The circuit captures the elusive quality of vintage germanium—dynamic response to picking attack and guitar volume that silicon can't replicate.
The Sputnik II established the platform later refined in the Sputnik IIb and Sputnik III. True-bypass mechanical switching. Hand-soldered in Portland, Oregon with cast aluminum enclosure and engraved vinyl faceplate.
