The EC-1 distills El Capistan's single moving head algorithm into a compact format focused on essential tape echo sounds. Three Record Level settings (Low, Medium, High) control preamp saturation from clean to heavily biased for different tape character.

The algorithm captures authentic tape echo behavior: mechanical wow and flutter, tape degradation, head alignment characteristics, and the soft compression of tape saturation. Delay times suit classic slapback through longer atmospheric echoes.

Stereo inputs and outputs with discrete Class A JFET preamps maintain signal quality. True or buffered bypass, MIDI via expression jack, and USB-C connectivity bring modern features to a pedal focused on vintage tone. The EC-1 proves less can be more.
