The Venus Z is a professional-grade tube preamp with DI output featuring comprehensive four-band active EQ section, making it one of most tonally flexible pedals in Sushi Box lineup. Unlike passive tone stacks where controls interact, Venus Z's active EQ provides true boost/cut functionality with flat response achieved when all controls at 12 o'clock. EQ center points carefully chosen: Bass at 60Hz, Lo Mids at 250Hz, Hi-Mids at 1kHz, and Treble at 7kHz. Allows precise sculpting of tone to fit any musical context or room acoustics.
Includes switchable high-pass filter that rolls off all low-end content below 90Hz at -6dB per octave, useful for controlling stage rumble, reducing muddiness, or tightening overall sound. Offers dual outputs with independent level controls: VOLUME knob on pedal's face controls 1/4" output, while trimmer knob on side governs XLR output level. Latest version has independently buffered 1/4" output, ensuring optimal performance whether running to amplifier, recording interface, or both simultaneously.
Packs high-voltage 12AX7 tube circuit running at over 300V, along with transformer-based DI balanced output, all in pedalboard-friendly 4.7" x 3.7" x 1.34" enclosure. Features 1MΩ input impedance as standard, though up to 10MΩ available upon request. Requires 9-12VDC power supply capable of at least 500mA. Represents streamlined alternative to larger Venus X, offering most players everything needed for professional tube preamp tone with DI capability in more compact format.
