Stone Age
Multi-fuzz with 4 engines (Single/Maestro/Face/Thermion), octave, clean mix, 2-band EQ—10 transistors, €235.
The Stone Age delivers four distinct fuzz engines addressing players seeking comprehensive fuzz palette without hauling separate pedals: Single Transistor (minimalist one-transistor fuzz), Maestro (FZ-1 Maestro Fuzz-Tone character), Face (Fuzz Face topology), and Thermion (modern Muff circuit modified with improved dynamics and definition). Four fuzz engines utilize 10 transistors total: 4x 2N2222 NPN for Thermion engine, 2x BF423 PNP for Maestro, 2x BF423 PNP for Face, 2x 2N2222 NPN for Single Transistor. Fuzz Engine selector enables instant access to four legendary fuzz circuits addressing different musical contexts from vintage one-transistor snarl through modern Muff sustain.
Footswitchable clean mix blends unfuzzed signal with fuzz maintaining clarity and definition preventing mud at high gain settings, footswitchable octave fuzz mix adds upper octave content creating harmonically rich textures. High-Q two-band EQ (Low Cut/High Cut) effectively removes excess low or high frequencies adapting tones to virtually any amplifier, EQ In/Out toggle enables bypassing EQ when flat response preferred. Input and output buffers maintain maximum dynamics, transistor-based circuits with relay switching and true bypass. Controls include Octave Mix, Gain, Clean Mix, Volume, plus dedicated footswitches for Add Clean and Add Octave enabling real-time texture adjustments.
MSRP €235 (2021 pricing), requires 9V DC center-negative power. Handmade in Spain. The Stone Age targets players seeking multi-engine fuzz with footswitchable clean and octave mixing, suitable for psychedelic rock (octave fuzz for Hendrix-style textures), garage rock (vintage single-transistor snarl), doom metal (Thermion Muff engine for sustained saturation), and experimental music where four fuzz engines plus octave and clean mix create comprehensive fuzz tonal palette impossible with single-circuit fuzz pedals.
