Homework Series Blues
BD-2 Blues Driver mod with enhanced low/mid EQ in clipping stage plus Normal/Fuzz toggle—25mA/9V, discontinued.
The Homework Series Blues served as the predecessor to the Blues DLX, offering extensive modifications to the Boss BD-2 Blues Driver circuit. The pedal has been discontinued with Winnipeg Electrical Company directing customers to the Blues DLX successor model, but the Homework Series Blues established the foundation for the expanded design.
Volume, Gain, and Tone controls provide standard overdrive parameters, while dedicated Low and Mid controls fine-tune bass and midrange frequencies directly in the clipping stage—allowing precise tonal shaping before distortion occurs. A toggle switch selects between Normal mode (smooth overdrive) and Fuzz mode (louder, higher gain, enhanced low-end saturation). The modifications pursue smoother, more full sound compared to the stock BD-2 while maintaining the Blues Driver's core character.
Relay-based soft-touch true bypass switching defaults to bypass when powered off. 9V DC center-negative power at 25mA draw. Handmade in Winnipeg with screen-printed artwork featuring Canadian notebook design. The Homework Series Blues targeted players seeking BD-2 tones with expanded EQ flexibility and fuzz capability in compact format.
