Homework Series Metal

The Homework Series Metal recreates the legendary Boss HM-2 Heavy Metal distortion—the pedal responsible for Swedish death metal's signature chainsaw guitar tone. Unlike the original HM-2's two-band EQ, this version adds a dedicated mid control at 1kHz, addressing the original circuit's scooped midrange character that made it difficult to use in contexts other than extreme metal.

Vol controls overall output, Blend balances distorted signal against dry signal (clockwise increases distortion in the mix), Dist adjusts saturation amount. The three-band EQ operates at 90Hz (low), 1000Hz (mid), and 1200Hz (high). To achieve standard HM-2 sound, set mid and high controls to identical levels. The blend control allows players to retain note definition by mixing clean signal with the heavily processed distortion—impossible on the original HM-2.
