Nivicola
Black Russian Big Muff recreation with Russian transistors, KD521A diodes, and a Voice control for mids.
The Nivicola is an exacting recreation of a personal Black Russian Big Muff, built with Russian KT3102IM transistors and KD521A diodes to match the original circuit character. The design adds a Voice control that adjusts midrange content, moving from scooped classic Muff tones to boosted mids that cut through a band mix.
Four knobs provide control: Level sets output volume (with more available than the original), Fuzz adjusts gain, Tone works as a tilt-style EQ for bass and treble balance, and Voice shapes the midrange. True bypass switching and an LED with adjustable brightness round out the features.
Hand-built in Redlands, California. A portion of sales supports World Central Kitchen humanitarian efforts. The circuit performs well at lower gain settings as well as full-on sustain, offering more tone-shaping flexibility than a standard Muff.
