Jonny Octave
Analog octave-up with germanium diodes and transformer. Best at 12th fret on neck pickup.
The Jonny Octave raises single notes one or two octaves using germanium diodes and transformers in each channel. Unlike digital pitch shifters, it produces the warm, slightly unstable character of vintage analog octave effects.
Controls include Octave 1 Volume and Octave 2 Volume, with a switch selecting between the two octave settings. Four internal trim pots allow adjustment for different playing styles and guitar outputs. Best results come from playing at the 12th fret area using the neck pickup.
Playing double stops or low strings with high harmonies creates interesting ring-mod-like sub-frequencies. The analog nature means tracking is imperfect on complex chords, which many players consider part of the charm. Hand-painted versions include a lifetime warranty.
