Vector
DIY PCB for building a Mad Professor Deep Blue Delay clone - analog-voiced PT2399 delay with tape character.
Aion FX from Des Moines, IA has helped guitarists build studio-quality effects since 2011. They make expensive boutique delays accessible through documented PCB projects.
The Vector recreates the Mad Professor Deep Blue Delay with modifications and improvements. The circuit uses a PT2399 delay chip but is described as "analog-voiced" with characteristics similar to tape delay units rather than sterile modern digital delays.
The Deep Blue gained cult status for coaxing musical, warm repeats from the humble PT2399 chip through careful filtering and voicing. The circuit delivers tap tempo-capable delay with vintage character at a fraction of BBD analog delay cost. The Aion version improves upon the original design while maintaining the warm, degrading repeats that made the Deep Blue a boutique favorite.
