FRV-1 63' Fender Reverb
COSM model of the 1963 Fender tube spring reverb unit. Creates lush spatial depth with adjustable decay and tone.
The FRV-1 models the reverb circuit from the 1963 Fender Spring Reverb unit using COSM technology. Released in 2007 as part of Boss's Legend Series, it targets the dripping, splashy spring reverb sound that defined surf rock and early Fender amps.
The algorithm models the physical behavior of spring reverb: the initial attack splash, the shimmering decay, and the metallic quality that distinguishes springs from plate or room reverb. A Dwell control adjusts the reverb input level, affecting the saturation and density of the reverb, just like on the original Fender unit.
Tone, Dwell, and Mix controls. At 37mA it's efficient for a digital reverb. The Tone control adjusts the brightness of the reverb trail. The Dwell control is the key to the Fender spring character: turn it up for dense, splashy reverb with that characteristic 'boing.'
Part of Boss's Legend Series that also included the FBM-1 Bassman and FDR-1 Deluxe Reverb models. For players who want the specific 63 Fender spring reverb sound in a compact pedal.
