Belle Epoch
Maestro EP-3 Echoplex emulation capturing tape echo character without tape maintenance.
Catalinbread's Belle Epoch faithfully recreates the Maestro Echoplex EP-3, perhaps the most famous tape echo ever made. Eric Johnson called it 'the closest thing to a real EP-3 that I've ever played.'
The Belle Epoch provides 80-800ms of authentic tape-sounding delay with the EP-3's characteristic warmth and modulation. Controls include Mix, Tone/Record Level, Sway/Mod (wow and flutter), Echo Sustain (feedback), and Echo Delay (time). An internal trimpot adjusts preamp gain.
Catalinbread understood that authentic tape echo emulation requires more than filtered repeats - it needs the preamp character, self-oscillation behavior, and organic decay. The Belle Epoch captures all these subtle traits in maintenance-free pedal format.
