Brownie
BSIAB circuit delivering Marshall-on-11 'brown sound' with massive sustain.
CMAT Mods was founded by Chad Matthews and became a full-time enterprise when he began working with pedal builder Greg Blessing. Their designs focus on boutique tone using premium components and meticulous construction.
The Brownie produces the 'brown sound' overdrive heard on classic rock recordings, built around a BSIAB (Brown Sound In A Box) circuit officially licensed from designer Ed Guidry. The all-analog design mimics a Marshall amp at full tilt with massive gain and sustain.
Controls for Gain, Level, and Tone enable everything from edge-of-breakup crunch to full saturation. The pedal sounds like a Marshall on 11 with great bass response and attack. Dead quiet operation with hardly any noise despite the high gain on tap.
Built with Switchcraft jacks, Alpha pots, Davies knobs, EH 3PDT true bypass switch, and military-grade wiring in a durable powder-coated aluminum enclosure. Comes standard in Copper finish. Works on 9V battery or adapter.
