FET OverBooster
Boss FA-1 FET Amplifier recreation with 3-band active EQ, boost/overdrive toggle, and LED clipping.
Drunk Beaver is a Polish pedal company founded by Ukrainian builder Vitalii Bobrov, specializing in recreations of rare and discontinued circuits.
The FET OverBooster revives the long-discontinued Boss FA-1 FET Amplifier as a preamp, clean boost, and low-gain overdrive. A NOS Tesla MA1458 op-amp and Toshiba 2SK209-GR J-FET run at +/-9V for extended dynamics. The Mode switch toggles between standard FA-1 clean boost and asymmetric LED soft clipping overdrive, while a Tight switch engages a 6 dB/octave low-frequency rolloff.
Gain sets the boost/drive level, a 3-band active EQ shapes treble, mids, and bass independently, and Output controls the final level. Discontinued but well-regarded. Enclosure dimensions: 122mm x 66mm x 39.5mm (125B). Draws 5mA from 9V DC center-negative.
