Afterneath
Short delay swarms create cave-like reverb. Otherworldly ambience from Akron.
EarthQuaker Devices designed the Afterneath to simulate wandering through an endless cavern. Rather than traditional reverb algorithms, it uses swarms of short delays that scatter and regenerate.
The Drag control sets the delay spacing. Short settings produce dense, shimmering ambience. Longer settings create rhythmic, scattered echoes. The Reflect knob adds regeneration that can push into self-oscillation for noise freakouts.
Six knobs provide serious tone shaping: Length for decay, Diffuse for spread, Dampen for brightness, Drag for timing, Reflect for feedback, and Mix for wet/dry blend. Completely analog dry path with digital effect processing.
Not a subtle reverb. The Afterneath excels at massive ambient textures, soundtrack-worthy drones, and making your guitar sound like it's trapped in a haunted cathedral.
