Lizard Queen (Big Box)
Imaginary '70s EHX octave fuzz brought to life by Josh Scott. Battery-only, limited to 1,000 units.
In spring 2021, JHS's Josh Scott and artist Daniel Danger designed the Lizard Queen as a tribute to vintage Electro-Harmonix fuzzes that never existed. Inspired by Kay Fuzz Tone and Univox Superfuzz circuits, they created an alternate-timeline EHX pedal complete with fake backstory. EHX loved the concept enough to manufacture it for real, releasing both a modern Nano version and a collector-focused Big Box edition at NAMM 2023.
The Big Box version (limited to 1,000 units, 30 with inverse color printing) recreates '70s EHX authenticity: battery power only, no LED, no DC jack. Three knobs control Volume, Octave intensity, and Balance between Shadow (dark, smooth fuzz) and Sun (bright, raspy fuzz) voicings. The fixed-gain circuit delivers crushed octave-up mayhem, with the Balance knob most effective at higher Octave settings. It's been called one of The Edge's go-to pedals despite being brand new.
Each unit includes a faux music store receipt as certificate of authenticity. The Nano version ($99) offers the same circuit with modern conveniences.
