Unicorn
First analog photocell univibe with tap tempo, ratio control, and expression input.
The Unicorn was the world's first fully analog, photocell-based univibe with tap tempo when JHS released it in 2015. This pedal delivers authentic vintage-vibed tones through real analog photocell topology, not digital emulation. The bulb-driven modulator creates the distinctive warble that defined classic psychedelic recordings. Controls include Volume, Speed, Depth, and Ratio, with a toggle switching between Uni-Vibe effect and traditional vibrato. The detented Speed knob allows precise rhythmic settings at quarter notes, eighth notes, dotted eighths, and triplets. A side-mounted expression/tap jack enables external speed control and multi-pedal tempo synchronization. Internal switches configure the jack for tap or expression operation. The original Unicorn came in a larger enclosure and delivered the warm, organic modulation that makes univibe such an evocative effect.
