Unicorn V2

JHS built the Unicorn V2 as the world's first bulb-driven photocell modulator with tap tempo. The circuit uses real analog photocell topology—actual light bulbs modulating photoresistors—to recreate classic 1960s Uni-Vibe sounds. This isn't digital emulation or solid-state approximation, it's authentic photocell architecture.

The Dry/Wet toggle switches between Uni-Vibe (chorus-like phasing) and pure vibrato effects. Four knobs control essential parameters. Tap tempo syncs modulation to your playing. The Ratio knob provides rhythmic subdivisions. Expression pedal input enables external speed/rate control. External tap control expands pedalboard integration.

Version 2 maintains the all-analog signal path while adding tap tempo—a combination that was unprecedented in the analog vibe category when released. At 100mA draw, it powers the bulb circuitry and tap tempo features. Authentic 60s modulation with modern functionality.
