Dookie Drive
Billie Joe Armstrong signature capturing Dookie's two-amp blend. Scoop and blend controls.
The Dookie Drive recreates Billie Joe Armstrong's Green Day tone from the groundbreaking 1994 Dookie album. MXR borrowed his actual modified Marshall amps and rebuilt them from scratch in pedal form.
Armstrong's Dookie sound came from blending two modified Marshalls: one scooped with massive gain, the other with defined midrange. The Blend control mixes these two circuits just like the studio mix. The Scoop switch adds additional midrange cut to the output.
Output, Gain, and Tone shape the overall character. The High Gain and Crunch sections each have their own controls. Released for Dookie's 25th anniversary in 2019, it captured punk's most influential guitar sound.
Standard 9V power. The MXR FOD Drive offers similar tones in a non-signature format with a three-position mid toggle for additional flexibility.
