18V Power Booster

The PastFX 18V Power Booster is a recreation of the Buffalo FX Power Booster, itself based on the Colorsound Power Booster circuit. An internal charge pump doubles the incoming 9VDC to 18 volts for increased headroom, meaning no 18V supply is needed despite the name.

Five external controls shape the sound: Gain sets the drive amount, Level controls output volume, Bass and Treble handle EQ, and a dedicated Mild control (active only when the Hot/Mild switch is engaged) allows adjustable lower-gain settings. An internal micro switch selects between Hot (factory default, more gain) and Mild (cleaner, less gain on tap) modes. The circuit uses BC169 and BC184 transistors and covers everything from light tonal grit and clean boost through hair-raising overdrive to light fuzz.
