Octatron
Modern all-analog octave pedal producing one and two octaves down with independent control over dry signal, octave levels, and sub-frequency EQ.
The Seamoon Octatron is contemporary all-analog octave pedal designed by Neil Jason and Ben Fulton to deliver classic bass octave tones reminiscent of vintage octavers like Boss OC-2. Unlike vintage Seamoon pedals from 1970s, Octatron is entirely new design aimed at bass players and guitarists seeking thick, subterranean low-end augmentation. Pedal generates one octave down and two octaves down signals while maintaining original dry signal, with independent control over each element.
Octatron features four primary controls that provide comprehensive blending capabilities. Dry knob adjusts level of unaffected original signal, ensuring players can maintain clarity and definition even with heavy octave processing. One Octave control sets level of signal dropped one octave below input, filling out bass frequencies and adding warmth without excessive boom. Two Octave control handles signal two octaves down, producing massively low sub-bass tones for synth-like effects or extreme low-end reinforcement. Sub Filter control is unique feature that adds extended low-end EQ to effected signal, ranging from rounded and subtle to pronounced and aggressive.
All-analog design provides organic tracking characteristics typical of vintage octave circuits. Tracking quality is comparable to most analog octave pedals on market, performing well with single notes and simple passages, particularly when played higher up neck. Like most analog octavers, Octatron handles chords and complex polyphonic passages less reliably, as circuit uses frequency division rather than digital pitch detection. Sub Filter control has garnered attention for its ability to shape character of octaved signal, allowing players to dial in anything from subtle low-end warmth to boomy, chest-thumping sub frequencies.
