Drive N5
Tube amp overdrive channel emulation with dual gain levels, four-band EQ, and integrated boost functionality for versatile drive tones.
The Sinvertek Drive N5 represents evolution of company's original Distortion No. 5, incorporating improved dynamic response and expanded control ranges. Based on FET (Field Effect Transistor) circuit technology, Drive N5 delivers authentic tube amp overdrive characteristics with two gain level options: High-Gain and Ultra-Gain. Pedal has received acclaim for being one of few effects that genuinely delivers on promise of acting as true tube amp overdrive channel, with frequency response curves and dynamic behavior that closely match real tube amplification.
Control layout features six knobs: Gain, Volume, Treble, Mid, Bass, and Presence, providing comprehensive tonal sculpting capabilities. Pedal includes three-way midrange selector switch that allows tonal shaping toward more American or British characteristics, enabling Drive N5 to adapt to different amplifier types and musical styles. Top End Switch provides additional high-frequency control, while Mode Switch determines boost functionality. When compared to predecessor, Drive N5 offers sweetened dynamic response, particularly noticeable when rolling back guitar's volume knob, allowing cleaner tones without switching pedal off.
Mode select switch enables multiple boost configurations: hitting footswitch can add volume bump, gain boost, or both simultaneously. Double-tap of footswitch bypasses pedal entirely, providing quick transitions between gained and clean tones. This flexible boost system effectively gives players access to multiple gain stages within single compact enclosure. Offers ridiculous level of gain on tap, capable of covering everything from edge-of-breakup crunch to saturated modern high-gain tones. Technical specifications include 1 Mohm input impedance, 1 Kohm output impedance, and 100mA current draw from required 9V DC adapter.
