Mullet Drive
Two-channel overdrive with asymmetric germanium/MOSFET Yellow channel and symmetric MOSFET Red channel, preserving natural guitar tone while offering vintage to modern distortion flavors in handcrafted German enclosures.
The Stoll Effects Mullet Drive embodies the German builder's philosophy of preserving natural guitar tone while providing versatile distortion options. This handcrafted two-channel overdrive features unique circuit designs in each channel, offering complementary tonal palettes. The Yellow Channel incorporates an additional germanium diode into the MOSFET gain stage, producing asymmetrical distortion with subtle fuzz-like overtones. Originally voiced for humbucker-equipped guitars, this channel reveals exceptional versatility with single-coil guitars as well, adding warmth and harmonic complexity without masking the instrument's natural character.
The Red Channel provides symmetrical MOSFET distortion designed to emulate tube amplifier clipping characteristics, delivering the warm, compressed overdrive tones spanning from the 1960s through modern pop and rock eras. Both channels preserve the core voice of your guitar - the circuit amplifies the input signal without imposing artificial tonal colorations, ensuring your instrument's unique characteristics remain present under gain. Each channel has independent gain and volume controls, allowing players to set up two distinct gain stages for rhythm and lead applications, or stack both channels for thicker, more saturated tones.
The Mullet Drive uses premium components throughout: Nichicon Audio Line capacitors for transparent signal path, Amtrans resistors for tight tolerances and low noise, Alpha Taiwan potentiometers for smooth, reliable control, and Neutrik sockets for durable connections. Every Stoll Effects pedal features a handcrafted housing with unique gradient paint finishes, making each unit a one-of-a-kind piece. No two pedals look identical, adding collector appeal to the professional performance capabilities.
Built in Germany with attention to detail and quality, the Mullet Drive draws only 35mA from standard 9V DC center-negative power supplies, making it compatible with all modern pedalboard power systems. The pedal's name playfully references the business in front, party in back philosophy - professional tone preservation with creative gain possibilities.
