Fairfax
All-analog Class A output stage drive recreating vintage tube amp response and sag.
The Fairfax is Strymon's first fully analog pedal, recreating a complete miniaturized tube amplifier circuit including preamp, Class A power amp, and output transformer emulation. Internal voltage conversion steps 9V up to 40V for massive headroom and true amp-like feel.
JFETs replace tube stages while custom circuitry emulates output transformer saturation characteristics. The Sag control introduces power supply droop from none to gating/sputtering at extreme settings. Bright switch adjusts high frequency emphasis through the preamp.
Inspired by the Garnet Herzog tube drive unit built for Randy Bachman in 1965, the Fairfax delivers that creamy, dynamic response that only real amp circuits produce. No digital processing—pure analog signal path throughout.
