The Violet Muffer recreates the legendary Violet Ram's Head Big Muff variant from Electro-Harmonix, one of the most sought-after vintage Big Muff circuits. Ram's Head Muffs (named for graphic on early 1970s units) deliver more midrange presence and cutting power compared to later Big Muff variants, making them better suited for lead work and dense band mixes where standard scooped-mid Muffs often disappear. Old stock transistors throughout maintain vintage tonal character and harmonic response.
Level controls overall volume, Sustain adjusts fuzz amount from dirty overdrive to full distortion saturation, Tone provides classic Big Muff tone sweep (lows left, highs right). LIFT switch removes first pair of clipping diodes, altering gain structure and harmonic content for different fuzz character—more open, less compressed when diodes lifted. Ultra-violet nipple indicator LEDs signify Violet version. The pedal has lots of mids and cuts through at all tone settings, addressing the common complaint that Big Muffs lack presence in band contexts.
