R-Comp
Ross Compressor clone with 2 controls (Sustain/Level)—classic squishy studio compression.
The R-Comp is a faithful reproduction of the legendary Ross Compressor, one of the most sought-after studio compressors in pedal form. Features just two controls—Sustain and Level—for simple operation that produces the classic "squishy" compression sound heard on countless recordings from the 70s and 80s. The Ross circuit is based on the Dynacomp but with component values selected for warmer, smoother response.
Hand-wired construction with through-hole components on US-made PCBs. Features 3PDT true bypass switching, Neutrik jacks, and powder-coated enclosure. Requires 9V DC via 2.1mm Boss-style jack (no battery clip). The Ross Compressor circuit is prized for its ability to add sustain and evenness without excessive squashing, making it ideal for clean rhythm work, country chicken picking, or adding sustain to lead tones. Produced in small batches until Vick Audio ceased operations in 2023.
