V-2
Pete Cornish G-2 distortion clone (Big Muff with BAT41 diodes)—overdrive to singing distortion, $139.
The V-2 is based on the Pete Cornish G-2 distortion unit, a modified Big Muff circuit used by professional touring guitarists seeking studio-quality distortion. Uses BAT41 silicon clipping diodes instead of the germanium diodes found in the original Cornish design, producing overdrive with excellent harmonic content at lower sustain settings, or full-on distortion with compressed sustain at higher settings. Features an input buffer that functions when engaged but not when bypassed.
Features Volume, Tone, and Sustain controls in a powder-coated aluminum enclosure. Hand-wired construction with through-hole components on US-made PCBs, 3PDT true bypass switching, and Neutrik jacks. Requires 9V DC via 2.1mm Boss-style jack (no battery clip). The Pete Cornish G-2 circuit is legendary among session and touring players for its studio-ready sound and exceptional build quality. Retail price was $139 before Vick Audio ceased production in 2023. Captures the essence of Cornish's boutique designs at a fraction of the cost.
