Fantabulizing Whatsitdo
Recursive octave fuzz generating 300%+ harmonic distortion with Wonderment and Fundamentals controls.
The Great Fantabulizing Whatsitdo is the most difficult-to-describe pedal Whimsy Machines has built, and for good reason: it's a recursive octave fuzz that warps your waveform to generate higher-frequency fundamentals along with their corresponding overdriven spectra. The result is over 300% harmonic distortion that sounds like fuzz and phasing had a baby, and it responds dynamically to your playing—the harder you dig in, the stronger the effect.
The Wonderment knob controls the intensity of those generated higher-frequency fundamentals. Turn it up and the pedal progresses from fuzzy to waspy, then octavey, and eventually synthy. The 4-way Fundamentals switch adjusts the quantity of fundamentals produced, with each position yielding a different character. Together, these controls give you a massive range of tones from gritty overdrive to full-on synth-like chaos.
Built in small batches in Fredericksburg, Virginia, the pedal sells for $199 and represents Whimsy Machines' commitment to weird, inventive circuit design. It's the kind of pedal that rewards experimentation and doesn't fit neatly into any traditional category.
