Ace Octave Fuzz
Octavia-style octave fuzz with Wren and Cuff refinements. Upper octave ring modulation.
Precise recreation of the Ace Tone FM-2 Professional fuzz, originally made circa 1969-1971 by Ace Electronic Industries in Japan—the pre-Roland company founded by Ikutaro Kakehashi before he started Roland/Boss. Built by removing parts from actual vintage FM-2 units and replicating them.
Volume, Gain, and Tone toggle switch selecting between mid-focused sound or fat/girthy sound with extra lows. Bold, rich fuzz with a clear octave-up effect especially pronounced above the 12th fret on the neck pickup. Distinguished from the Tycobrahe Octavia style of octave fuzz.
Historically significant as a recreation of an obscure Japanese fuzz from the company that became Roland. The octave-up works best on single notes, higher frets, neck pickup. Compact enclosure at 4.4 x 2.4 x 1.2 inches, 7.5 oz. True hardwire bypass, 5mA draw.
