Longsword
Op-amp overdrive with 3 clipping modes. The pedal that launched EAE back in 2015.
Electronic Audio Experiments released the Longsword in 2015 as their debut pedal. It established the EAE approach: familiar topology, careful voicing, and real personality.
The circuit uses op-amp gain staging with three switchable clipping options: symmetrical silicon, asymmetrical silicon, and MOSFET. Each mode changes the compression and harmonic content significantly. Silicon is tight and focused, MOSFET is more open and amp-like.
Three-band EQ provides serious tone shaping. The Mid control is particularly useful for cutting through a band mix or scooping for doom riffs. Volume and Gain controls interact in ways that reward experimentation.
The Longsword earned EAE their initial following and remains in the lineup. A solid mid-gain overdrive that does a lot with three knobs and a toggle.
