Panther Cub
Original analog delay with tap tempo, eight BBD chips, and 1000ms of warm degrading repeats.
JHS released the original Panther Cub as their first take on analog delay with modern features. The circuit uses eight 3208 bucket brigade chips to deliver a full second of delay time while maintaining that warm, degrading character that defines analog delay. Where digital delays preserve your signal perfectly, the Panther Cub's BBD path adds natural darkness and blur to each repeat.
The tap tempo provides precision timing with four ratio divisions: quarter, dotted eighth, eighth, and triplet. Built-in modulation adds shimmer reminiscent of the Deluxe Memory Man, creating that coveted tape-like warble. The effects loop routes pedals into the repeats only, opening creative possibilities for filtered or pitch-shifted delays.
Time, Mix, Feedback, Speed, Depth, and Ratio controls fill the 1590BB enclosure. True bypass or trails mode. The V1 laid the groundwork before JHS refined the design for V2's smaller form factor.
